The sonic soot blower has two-tone dual-frequency sonic soot blower and a single-tone single-frequency sonic soot blower. The sounding principle is different. The dual-tone dual-frequency sonic soot blower is used to flow compressed air through a high-pitched high-frequency sound. The high-frequency sound waves generated by thesound generator and the low-frequency sound waves formed by the reflection of a low-frequency sound wave. The twofrequency sound waves are interacted overlay to generate a two-tone dual-band frequency sound wave. The single-tone single-frequency sonic blower is a flow of compressed air or steam through the metaldiaphragms, exhausts, and sound resonators or other sonic generating components that produce a strong sound; the sound wave propagates in the flue or the furnace, and the ash particles in the flue gas are synchronously vibrated. Under the repeated action of the sonic vibration, it is difficult for the tiny ash particles to landon the surface. Also, the ash deposited on the heated surface is broken and peeled off, by doing this it can achieve the purpose of purging.
The sonic soot blowing system is mainly composed of a compressed air pipeline system, a sonic soot blower and a program control device. Sonic wave soot is very simple, consisting of a sonic device and a wave guidedevice; it works just like a tweeter.
In the 1980s, foreign countries began to develop sonic soot blowers, which were introduced into many power plants in China.
According to the working principle, technical characteristics and practical application of the three soot blowers as following:
Soot Blower type | Steam | Shock wave | Sonic |
Blowing medium | Superheated steam or saturated steam | Acetylene or liquefied gas | Compressed air
|
Application equipment | Furnace, superheater, economizer, air preheater | Economizer, air preheater
|
Air preheater
|
Scope of use | Slagging, loose ash and sticky ash | Loose ash | Loose floating ash
|
Operation mode | Blow every 8 hours | Blow every 4 hours | Blow every 2 hours |
Advantage | Reliable system, good purging effect | The system is simple, and occupying small spaces | Small size, needs small space and low operating cost
|
Disadvantage | Large steam consumption, large volume | Av Average effect, high operating cost | May not be 100% effective
|
Effective purge radius | 0~3m | Between 0 and 1m | 0~0.2m |
Operating cost comparison | 1.0 | 1.5 | 0.7 |
According to the technical performance of the three soot blowers, the steam soot blower is still the best choice for the waste incinerator, especially in the high temperature heating part. The steam soot blower cannot be replaced by the other two soot blowers. The shock soot blower can be usedfor the tail low temperature flue; however, sonic soot blowers are not recommended.
Steam soot blowers, shock soot blowers, sonic soot blowers are three main kinds of soot blowing equipment used in boilers domestically and globally. These three kinds of equipment have their own advantages and disadvantages. At present, steam soot blowing is not only an important equipment for soot blowing and decoking, butalso it can be used in all types of operational equipment. Its purging result is thoroughly effective, and can improve thermal efficiency, reduceexhaust gas temperature, save cost as well as improvingthe chances of safe operation. It is the first choice of soot blowing equipment for the rapid development of waste incinerators. It is believed that it will be widely used in waste incinerators!
